FRP is a hard job. I believe no one in the industry denies this. Where is the pain? First, the labor intensity is high, second, the production environment is poor, third, the market is difficult to develop, fourth, the cost is difficult to control, and fifth, the money owed is difficult to recover. Therefore, only those who can bear hardships can dry FRP. Why has the FRP industry flourished in China in the past three decades? In addition to the factors of market demand, a very important reason is that China has a group of particularly hard-working people. It is this generation that constitutes the “demographic dividend” of China’s rapid development. The vast majority of this generation are farmers transferred from the land. Migrant workers not only constitute the main source of labor force in China’s construction industry, electronics industry, wool textile and knitting industry, shoes, hats, bags and toys industry, but also the main source of labor force in FRP industry.
Therefore, in a sense, without this generation of people who can bear hardships, there would not be such a large-scale FRP industry in China today.
The question is, how long can we eat this “demographic dividend”?
As the previous generation of migrant workers gradually entered the old age and withdrew from the labor market, the young generation dominated by the post-80s and post-90s began to enter various industries. Compared with their parents, the great differences of these new generation of migrant workers with only children as the main body have brought new challenges to our traditional manufacturing industry.
First, there has been a sharp decline in the number of young workers. Since the 1980s, the role of China’s family planning policy has begun to appear. From the sharp decline in the number of enrolled children and the number of primary and secondary schools in the country, we can calculate the sharp decline in the overall number of this generation. Therefore, the supply scale of the number of labor force has been greatly reduced. Labor shortage, which seems to have nothing to do with our country with the largest population in the world, Began to appear in front of us. Hope is the most valuable thing. The reduction of labor supply will inevitably lead to the rise of labor price, and this trend will become more severe with the further reduction of the number of post-90s and post-00s.
Secondly, the concept of young labor force has changed. The basic motivation of the older generation of migrant workers is to earn money to support their families. The younger generation of migrant workers have enjoyed the good conditions of being free from food and clothing since they came to the world. Therefore, their family responsibilities and economic burden are quite indifferent to them, which means that they will not work for the improvement of family conditions, but more for the improvement of their own living conditions. Their sense of responsibility has been greatly weakened, They don’t have much rule awareness, but they have more self-awareness, which makes it difficult for them to accept the strict rules and regulations of the factory. Young people are difficult to manage, which has become a common problem for all enterprise managers.
